Currently, I have the RFX + 8 outs.

So I have main out and subs 1,4,5,6,7.

I.e., 6 stereo outs.

i dont have subs 2 and 3!
how do i get those?

do you have a e5000? i don't think there's any way to gain those outs unless it came with them from the factory.

how can i get more?

is getting a bigger model the only option?
how many outs do the bigger ones have?

There's no way to get those outs working, you'll need another emu! e6400 ultra has got 8 standard outs to which you can add another 8. Infact of the ultra range it's only the e5000 which only has 4 as standard.

thats a bit annoying!

ok, e6400 seems to be the next purchase for me then!



is there any sense in getting the E4XT model?
what does it have that I would not have after installing the RFX+8 outs on the E6400?

6400 will do it just was well!

but there are some diffs i think!


have to make sure the poly is expanded to 128 though i recon!!

I have a 6400 with RFX and these days it would be odd for me 2 use more than 2 outputs. The more u produce of the RFX board the less hastle it is to reset a mixing board for every song, plus u have less noise build up if u are using analogue mixer.

oh man.......my method is so different.
i run stuff coming out of outputs on to the desk channels, which get treated by compressors, outboard fxs, etc.....

i think u really cant mix stuff proper enuff if u have it all come out of 2 outs?!?!

not at all i used to mix like u but its a pain in the arse when working with loads of different songs.
I find it best to produce on the sampler and treat the odd sound here and there on desk/outboard but then taking a new sample of it.

This way all my songs load and sound like i last left them without having to reset an analogue desk and loads of outboard.

PS. I mostly use the EMu for drums!

i've been doing this the last few days as my scsi and midi are not all up and working till i move studios!

I've been recording all stuff as i play live and re bouncing etc. I'm only using two inputs as i only have 4 1/4 jack cables!!


Its great great fun, unquantised, live feeling......... but not the way i want to work!


Single tunes or not, you can write down settings and most mixers like mine come with a photocopyable desk map!!

Why would i have got an XT with 8 outs if i wasn't going to use them! just seems kinda wierd.


But like i said, its fun, and i may do it in the future for pure ease of use! its very fun!

But in my view, its best to keep things in midi using outboard, and when i get everything sorted i will be utilising all the outs and only bouncing when i have to!

If u really want to take a snap shot of ur mixer and outboard, the best method is to use a digital camera. One photo of the desk and another of ur rack.
