Hey guys, I recently got some akai sample cds. Now, id like to be able to load up entire programs (ie: having all the samples loaded at once, all mapped with loop points) but I cant figure out how to do it. Im sure its possible but I dunno
I can use cd xtract to preview the sounds, but that doesnt seem to help my problem
Any ideas?
I do have a scsi cd rom

you should be able to preview the whole cd through the browser of the emu no?

i also know that in the utility menu of the master section there is a few options to be toggled about loading akai cd roms.

using cd xtract is a much more feasible option though.. it is much quicker to browse through the sounds and only pick the ones you want. The emu can be quite tedious at this. Like the slogan for cdxtract states... spend less time looking for samples and more time making music!

You have to change some settings for the emu to be able to read akai cds?
Can you point me in the right direction, I dont know what im looking for.
I like the idea of loading full patches though, not alot of manuelmapping and whatnot

I didn't have to change anything in mine - in disk browser it actually shows the cd-drive as being AKAI then I can just load each bank or preview samples or whatever - There is something in Master->Setup->Import -Akai/Ensoniq conversion (basic and full) and Adjust fractional loops (fixes clicking loops but takes longer).

Everything looks to be setup ok, hmmm... Could it be my drive could be failing? the akai cds arre burnt copies, and the emu cds I got with the sampler. I gotta admit my drive seems to struggle alittle bit
i got a Yamaha CRW6414s
any other ideas?

oh mate.. funny you mentioned the drive you have. I had a yamaha crw4416 and it burnt out on me. Was doing exactly what you stated. I then got a new plextor and have had no problems at all. I would keep an eye on that drive. yamaha drives are notorious for going down.
