Upgrading an E4X

Hello,

I produce in a pair, and we've got two EOS Samplers, one E6400 and one E4X. I have a couple of questions:

The E4X runs EOS 3.00b and I was wondering if there were any implications with upgrading to 4.61. The hard disk is a gold mine of good samples so I don't want to risk losing it.
Does anyone know a way to link both samplers to the PC via SCSI at the same time?
Is there a way to backup the EMU's HDD? (I'd rather not take it out of the emu if poss. - I want to do it weekly)

That's about it really.

Yeah no problem man.

Connect a SCSI cable from PC to first EMU, probably the E4 ,since... iirc, the unit has 2 SCSI ports (if it doesn't then u have a few options 1) get a SCSI T-Adapter to give u dual ports. granitedigital.com has this '2418 T-Adapter 1-50m Cent to 2-50f Cent."-Option 2) pull the SCSI disk out of the EMU and place in external SCSI case and connect to the E6400 and do a copy of the banks.

If u go the route of the T-Adapter make sure you PC is set to a SCSI ID of 0 and terminate the card, make sure the first EMU is set to SCSI ID 6 leave it unterminated, connect the second EMU, make sure the device is set to SCSI ID1,2,3,4 or 5, terminate this device and make sure you change the SYSEX ID to something other than what the first EMU is set to. U set this up in the Master->Midi->Mode ->F3

You should now be able to copy banks to and from any disk.

I thought EOS 4.1 was the highest u can use in those non Ultra machines.
