I picked up a ACSII keyboard for my e6400 the other day for a paltry $5 and was wondering where I could find a list of what the keyboard shortcuts are.

Some are obvious, such as Ctrl + S = save, and ESC = cancel, but I'm a little hesitant to just start hammering away at keys.

I think it's in the hardware manual, but sadly I left that halfway across the country.

Best $5 I've ever spent already, though....

Actually it is in your getting started manual, so I guess it would be on the cd manual as well...

But.......

exit is escape

ten key pad is of course ten key pad, use the number lock, watch out about the keyboard getting dumped.

cursor keys are the cursor keys or ten key pad if you turn number lock off.

page keys is the ten key pad 3 and 9

Inc/Dec are +/-

F1 thru F6 are the same as the emu's, so all you have to do is look at the front of the emu and choose the function key that matches the one that you want. Like in multi mode F5 is save... oh it's too second nature...

Preset edit is Alt A or Alt F or (hello windows) Ctrl E

Sample Manage is Alt S or... no, thats it.

Sample Edit is Alt D, or Ctrl G

Preset Manage is Alt P

Master is Alt M

Multimode is Alt Z

Disc is Ctrl D

Load Bank is Ctrl L or Alt ]... i typically just use the function keys.

Save Bank is Ctrl S or Alt [

Search Dialog is Ctrl F from the browser

Rename Dialog is Ctrl R in browser

Audition Preset is Ctrl A in Preset related modules

Audition Sample is Ctrl A in Sample related modules

and there you go. Write these down, tape it to your table or desk, in three days you wont even have to look at the list and in one week you will be able to speed around the emu like a freak. Also, once you really get good, you can chop a break up in to about 50 pieces in about 10 minutes or so. I would tell you my sequence of keystrokes but it is so second nature by now I would have to sit down in front of the sample and write them out. Maybe I will if you are interested.

You are going to love that keyboard. No more sticky keys, no more hitting a button up to six times to get the letter or symbol you want. Oh it is a dream. And for 5 bucks.. Lucky you

S+H, i got an old PC around here doing nothing i noticed it had them old style connectors, i linked it up to the EMU to test it out. Im hooked-this is so much better than naming samples on the keypad haha.

I never got one of them Getting Started manuals - not that i can remember anyways. hrm

Yeah, it is one of the best things they did with the emu, allowing us to use a ASCII keyboard. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Hiya,

I noticed your post about the keyboard, well I just got my E6400Ultra this weekend. It's max expanded, except for the 128voices. I use a keyboard too, what an awesome convenient solution that is. Then I started thinking further and since I had this spare Logitec wireless keyboard, I hooked that up and this works !!!!

What I also did, I used a Dymo labelprinter (smallest print) and used a pair of scissors to cut to fit the keycaps of my Logitec keyboard. To me this looks almost professional, also note the blue, red and yellow indicator-tape to tell whether you need to use CTRL or ALT

My sampler has a wireless keyboard !

My sampler is sitting just right infront of me, underneath my 2 x 17" flatscreens, but maybe I'll move the Emu to the right-hand side of my desk and (allthough it's not the greatest) start using the EOSLink software, so I can fill the space with other (new?) hardware.
Just don't tell my girlfriend ! .
