I think the mac version is crap - does the same with mine - so I got Virtual PC off limewire and loaded a win98 cd onto it - worked a treat - what i would advise is taking the pc version round someones house with a PC and make your floppy disk there. Should work fine.
People who say drive is dissappearing - are you typing in: A - this worked fine for me on win98 but only if the disk is in the drive...

Emailed EMU regarding EOS 4.7. They replied next day with the ftp site of the upgrade. which is
ftp://emuserv:s37at5@www.emu.com/
The eos470.exe in the uploads section does not work. The one on the above ftp site does.

so how does one go about installing? do we simply move that .exe onto a floppy and then insert it?

Double click the file and then specify your floppy drive, normally a. This will write an image to a floppy disc. When the disc has been written place it in to ypur emu and switch on. Alternatively download the dli file and eloader application. Follow the instructions for the eloader application. When ready to transmit the file via midi to your emu press the enter key and switch on.

okay i followed instructions and copied the eos 4.7 to a floppy, but when i put it in my e4xt ultra running eos 4.0.2 and start the sampler up it does nothing, it just loads eos 4.0.2, is this os too old to update to 4.7? if so how do i go about making it not too old?
any info would be most appreciated.

Update your EOS to V4.6 from EMUs website. You must update your ultra with the Ultra Flash prep. This allows the ultra to read compressed files. The link you need is
http://www.emu.com/products/e4xtultra/downloads.html
Read the page and you will understand what i mean. The flash prep needs to be done before loading v4.6 or v4.7
