Live Sampling?

Hi,
I've been looking at the RFX 32 card for its abilities to play live through the sampler presets - filters, amp mod, etc., though from what i've read on here, the card is not all that reliable and has some problems. They also seem to be pretty rare. I don't need the FX as such, just the live sampling, so I can play guitar through it.
Does anybody here do this? Does it work fine? And are there any other solutions? I love my E6400 Ultra, but I would even consider another system if anyone knows of one..
Thanks,
Darren

Behringer Vamp is +pro+ the way to go imho

tried the rfx live input with guitar last night, not bad but had me screaming for my bass vamp pro.

u could also check out the boss multi fx boards, u really need good amp/speaker simulation to be honest.

maybe emu will include some amp plug ins in the next os.

loooooooooool :P

Isn't the V Amp just an amp modeller and FX?
I've got a real valve amp, and a Lexicon MPX1. It's the synth abilties of the EMU; lots of mod to lots of sources that i'm after, but being able to do it live. Then thru FX, to amp.
IS the RFX 32 the only thing that does this? Does another sampler? IS the latency extremely low with the RFX? Cheers.

Sorry misunderstood ur question.

Yes the Vamp is just an amp/modeler fx device, I'd wouldn't use it or the Emu/rfx for a live setup cause there are just too many bugs in theses system that could potentially damage alot of ears/ pa system.

From what I can gather you might wan't to check out the Clavia modular G2 or if ur budget is limited check out the micro modular secondhand, these synths will let u mangle away to ur hearts content!

Cheers

i have RFX in one of my machines, an yeah u can play a signal in the inputs an route it to a voice in a preset with sample 000 assigned. Set up a filter int he voice processing layer to filter your input. Works pretty well but the machine with that card is pretty buggy.

I just wish they developed that more, they could have done a dedicated filter box, 16 in/outs for realtime filtering..would have been madness.
