Esynth switch on/Start up

Hi to all,

Thought i'd come here with this prob, perhaps someone can help..

Have an Esynth keys which is behaving erratically on startup, the noticable part being the installed SCSI startup mounting procedure taking some time, this leaves me unable to load any banks and also the sprint button on the preset page is faded out!
Most times the startup runs through fine and all is normal but this odd behaviour is becoming more frequent.
My software version is 4.10a

I suppose the SCSI bus might be the place to look but it's not in use apart from initial loading on startup..

Not a lot to go on i know, but..

Well, if anyone has an idea, would appreciate any suggestions..

Thanks

Cj

I'm not familiar with the ESynth unit but if the SCSI mounting procedure is taking an extended amount of time beyone the time that you are normally exposed to it could be a few factors.

1. A bad SCSI cable could produce erratic behaviour
2. A SCSI device on it's last legs (i.e. a HD) may cause this behaviour
3. Improper SCSI termination may produce this issue but I'm just guessing at this point

I'd recommend breaking down your SCSI chain into components and make sure each component works properly. Make sure the cable is alright, for example. Make sure your storage device is behaving normally on a different system. I could go on but this is just a start. I hope this helps.

A few things there I hadn't considered thanks..although as you mention I am beginning to think the hd is the offending item..
Seems it's not a big problem to fit a replacement if necessary.

Thanks again..
