broken data wheel on e4k

i got an amazing deal cuz of the broken wheel...and i can work with the inc/dec buttons....but its getting tedious...when u spin the wheel, it sends random values to whatever parameter im trying to control....then after a few spins i get a "scan queue overload error"...when i try to recalibrate the wheel from the main/utils menu, it says something along the lines of "bad data" and gives the options of try again or cancel...is there some other test i could run to possibly fix this problem? or is it gonna require me to hunt down a data wheel and a tech to replace it?

Please note that I haven't tried this fix myself.

Kewl! I needed that! I once asked some service shop for the cost of a replacement switch, but they wouldnt give me the price as a private person  I'll try this fix out the next days, i just opened up my E4X, anyway... I'll let you know!

Ok, here we go: my symptoms were not that krass as those of Nick_S, "scan queue overloads" I only got if I really overdid it 8-)

But I could not really increase values anymore for they jumped back down to very small values. J?rg's page explains in all length, that he simply soldered two small capacitors over pins of the rotary controler - for me as an electronics no big deal. So I just soldered directly onto the PCB two 330nF ceramic caps and *yatta* no jumpyness anymore!!!

Just want to leave a very big THANK YOU! I soldered two 100nF caps to my baby today and it's working great! I just noticed that sometimes when I turn the wheel reeeeaaaaally fast it still jumps a bit... but nevermind... maybe I'll replace the 100's with a pair of bigger ones at some time.
