More bad luck with my ultra5000. I tried to upgrade to newest EOS 4.70.
I had previosly 4.10a.
What I did:
1. Did flashprepare and it went ok, I believe.
2. Put 4.70 disk in and it started loadin OS...
3. After 5 mins it says "try to boot from flash" I say yes
4. Then nothing at the end it says Boot flash reprogrammed please reboot and reload EOS.

I tried to run flashprepare disk again->Checksum error on emu.
I tried to load EOS 4.61, 4.10 -> checksum error
I tried to load EOS 4.7 again. Ok but it doesn't boot.

Have I corrupted my flashes somehow?
What can be done now?

I'm pretty **** angry to myself and to my ultra, I'm very near to kickin it to pieces. God damn, how bad my luck can be :(

...mmhh ...you talking at the other Thread about problems with the RAM Modul. Sounds like a combination with that.
Perhaps you have really to change the Ram Simms ( new-cheaply at Ebay?) , and for the Ultra is the 4,6 a good Choice ( if you have the RFX Card the 4.7 )

Opened the unit. Yes the RAMs are physically very different, that's prolly what caused the Gentrap errors.

But anyway I can't get the flahsprep or any EOS version to work anymore. It always says :checksum error. I have tried with many different diskette's.

Maybe something went wrong during flashprep?

Now after chekcsum error the new EOS won't boot up. At the end e-mu asks if I want to write boot flash to disk etc. After it emu suggest that I load EOS to it, put it always ends up with checksum error.

Maybe I need a new flash? Are they available.

I don't have RFX card. I have DWAM addon only.

No matter what i try it won't work. I mailed emu about this prob but no answer..

If trying to run flashprepare this is what happens:
"loading os..."
then
"verifying downloaded image...verifying csum: 0x009500c4
csum failed: 9500ac 9500c4
Press [ENTER] to continue"

Csum failure also when trying to load any EOS version.

I'm desperate here.
Anyone / any company selling ultra flash boot?

Have you tried updating the os with just 1 ram module installed, try it with each one individually.

I was having problems with my ram after buying 64mb that was physically very different from one that I already had. I just swapped over the slots and this solved it.

When my Ultra was updating I couldn't tell if there was any progress, the screen was just blank, it was only when I looked from a different angle and saw 'updating os...' I realised that it had reset my contrast options!

Be patient if your not getting any errors then just wait.

Yes I tried to remove the other RAM lefting only 64MB RAM to ramslot B.
No succes. I will try again with the other RAM chip only installed.

Contrast works fine, so I'm not missing any info on screen.
