front panel buttons on e4xt ultra inoperative

Summarizing my previous post, after receiving a new (well, new for me) e4xt ultra, the unit appears to be working fine with the exception that none of the front panel buttons work at all.

I can navigate via an ASCII keyboard, and everything seems fine except for the front panel buttons. Aside from being inconvenient, this also prevents me from upgrading the EOS from 4.01 to a more current version. The ASCII keyboard is not available when booting from a floppy - one needs to hit the "enter" key to proceed with the flash upgrade.

Has anyone opened up one of these things and looked specifically at the front panel connections? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

The button board connects to the main board via a ribbon cable. It will be very obvious once you pop the cover off. Good luck!

Thanks! Well, that was easy. Opened up the unit and it was clear as day. The ribbon cable connector was half off. Simply pressed it back in and voila, everything works fine!

Now onto the next step of upgrading the OS from 4.01 to 4.7.
