basically i had a checksum error at bootup and have since bought another e-64 , tried my old one with the working CPU flash rom from the new e-64 ....it works fine so now that i know what was wrong with my old e-64 i need to know HOW or WHERE i can go to CLEAR /RESET/ ERASE my old cpu flash cards.....i have the original cpu flash (1meg is it?) and i have the updated (2meg one) both need Erasing .

am i right in thinking this involves putting them over a huge magnet???

please any advice before i climb into my speaker cabinet with it and labotomise my brain with it too.!!! :)))

If you search the board on "flashprep", there's a few articles talking about the utility E-mu provides as part of the EOS 4.62 download.

I'm not sure it will help you flush the flashRAM, but it can't hurt to try.

Now, I haven't actually done this myself, so I'm just guessing based on reading some other posts... first, get the download from the emu.com site (or I think they have it stashed around here somewhere... I only managed to find the download area once, by accident, and haven't been able to find it again since). Take two 1.44 floppys you've formatted on the other e64 (not DOS formatted floppys, this could make things worse), use the programs in the download to load the flashprep utility onto one floppy and the EOS upgrade onto the other. Put the flashprep floppy in the subject machine, turn on the power, hope for the best.

Or something like that...
