There are versions back to 4.10 (well, back to 2.8, but that wouldn't do you any good with an Ultra).

I was under the impression that 4.0 was the first EOS version for the Ultras. It definitely contained the newer Ultra features like Beat Munging and such. The 4.0 manual was what came with my e6400-Ultra.

I copied the 4.10 exe in to a floppy and inserted it on boot but the sampler doesn't see the os and attempt to load it.....I did have 4.10 on it when I bought it but have lost the disk

You need to run the executable on your PC to create the EOS bootable disk.
When you run it, it will ask you to which drive you wish to restore the image. Enter the letter of drive containing the disk you wish to use and it will create the disk. Then you will be able to update your EMU OS.

Hi
Ive made the bootable disk(4.10)but the sampler doesn't see it when I boot the sampler(no probs with 4.6/7)

Are you sure the disk was written properly? Maybe try again with a different floppy disk.
I don't know if this is a possibility but are there any issues going from a later EOS to an earlier EOS?

You must format the floppy in the emu and then write the image on your PC.
Weird, I know, but that's how it is. Let us know if it works.

Thanks for that,
I tried this to no avail,(FAT format right?) One thing which is puzzling is that though it says it has wiped the flash(using non emu formatted flash prep)when I reinstall the os it still keeps the user setup parameters (fx scsi id etc).Is there a way to wipe the flash?

hmmmm......
Goto master>utils>tests>enter password 1358>more>InitEE.
To Update the EOS Software:
1. Turn off power to the Emulator.
2. Insert the software floppy disk with the label side left (label side up on
the E4K or E-Synth Keyboard).
3. Turn on power to the Emulator. The display will show the software
version on the floppy and ask if you wish to update Flash RAM from the
floppy software.
4. Press Enter to update, or Exit to cancel the operation. _ Caution: Re-initializing
EEPROM resets the ?Avoid Host
on SCSI ID? parameter to
?None?. If you have a computer
on the SCSI bus, be sure to set
this parameter to the correct ID.
5. Re-initialize EEPROM. (This should be done after a software update to
?clean the slate?. It resets the Master menu preferences and other bits.)
a. Press Master, Utils, Tests
b. Enter the Secret Password: 1-3-5-8, then press OK.
c. Press More, then InitEE The display reads, ?Initialize EE??
d. Press OK. The display reads, ?Saving System?. Press Master to exit.
6. Recalibrate the Emulator controls. See ?Recalibration? on page 68.

I still cant get 4.10 to boot/install over 4.61/7.
Another thing, in the diagnostic tests , there is a sound simm mismatch error , which simm is that referring to?and in 4.61/7 I cant route an output to aux bus 1.

I don't know if you can go back to 4.1 from 4.61/7.
I think the sound simm thing is for roms. Do you have any of these installed? If not don't worry about it.
When you say aux bus 1 do you mean sub 1 or fx a?

No I dont have any sound boards installed, the subs are outputs 3 and 4
