e4x & recycle problems..

ok this is a long story but here goes...
i finally got a new rom and upgraded my os to 4.61. it worked great and recycle was able to communicate with my sampler etc (after i installed the aspi layer, of course)
worked well for a few weeks.. and then suddenly, recycle stopped detecting the sampler. i read that it may be an issue with the boot sequence in another post on the forum.. my normal boot sequence was too boot the computer first, and once windows was loaded boot the sampler, the scan for new hardware in device manager (using winxp).. whenever i tried the suggested boot method, of allowing the sampler to boot first then the comp, it is never detected.. i have to reboot the sampler once windows loads and then detect the device to get it recognized..
anyway, so i check my aspi later. everything is fine, soundforge detects the sampler. the scsi explorer can view the sampler. but whenver i go to add a sampler manually in recycle i cannot see the sampler. i can select the sampler harddrive in recycle even.. but not see the sampler itself.
i even reinstalled windows recently (it was about that time anyway) and hoped that something would click.. but no luck.. has anybody had this issue before? i know its not an apsi layer thing because scsi explorer and anyother device can see the sampler..
oh i also downloaded wavesurgeon to try the trial and see if it deceted the sampler.. but it had the same problem as recycle..
my sampler settings are as follows
scsi termination on
scsi id 3
scsi internal hd id 2
avoid host on: none
ive tried turning on/off termination, avoid host on id 7, different scsi id's.. and nothing.
why would it work so breifly and then quit?
does recycle just suck or is it a config/os issue.. id like to think that windows is at fault here.. but most other apps can see the sampler just fine...
thanks to anybody who can shed some light on this
cheers,
