Need to have 2 SCSI connectors in an E4xt

I need to have 2 SCSI connectors in my E4xt but it has only one. The reason is that I want to SCSI connect my computer to the E4xt and then a jazz drive and then again an E4xt at the end.

Is it possible to buy an adapter which convert 1 external connector to 2?

The old E-IV had 2 off those connectors but not the later E4xt. Anyone know why?

Best regards

Hi Brian,

SCSI stuff is usually chained and terminated at either end of the chain (up to 7 devices in one chain I think).

Have you tried E4xt---JAZ----Computer?

Even though your Sampler is not directly connected to the Computer they should comumicate fine - as long as the SCSI ID's are different and only the devices at the end of the chain are terminated.

Good luck

Hi

Yes, I can see what you mean. But my wish is to have a SCSI chain this way:

Computer <-> E4xt <-> Jazz <-> E4xt

to be able to remote control the E4xt's with EOS Link and to use translator from chickensys to dump banks from the samplers to the computer.

Is this a valid configuration and is it possible to get a kind of Y-SCSI to increase the single 50-pin centronic SCSI port to 2 ports on one of the E4xt?

Best regards

Brian ;)

I think it's going to be easiest to get another scsi card. I've got an s2000 and an e5000 connected to my computer and this was the only way. Got a scsi card for ?25 off ebay - works a treat but for you I suppose the zip would be a bit of a prob - only one sampler would be able to use it. Get another Zip!

Hi

Thanks for your replies.

I've decided to pull the internal hd out and install it in a scsi tower. I've made a scsi cabel from the internal scsi connector to the external option slot which gives me the total amount of 2 external scsi connections. Now I'm able to put the E4xt in the middle of the chain like this:

Computer <-> E4xt <-> jazz <-> scsi hd tower <-> E4xt.

Thanx for leading me in the right direction.

Best regards 8-)

Yeah i did this for my mates EMU, hella mission looking for a Centronics Female connector plug. I made my own internal cable an connected it to the SCSI board pin header an fixed the connector to the expansion slot above the build in SCSI connector.

I use the 'T' Adapter on my machine tho since i have NO expansion ports available :-)
