buzzing and beeping and noise from a E4Xt Ultra

Hello forum!
I just got into E-Mu samplers, been into Kurzweils in the past but always desired an E4 as well. Just bought a E4Xt Ultra from a local film composer so its been taken care of, but probably used a lot.
My problem with it is,
If running unbalanced from its outputs it makes a buzzing and beeping and noise, sounds like a bad internal soundcard from a PC almost. If I run balanced into my mixer the beeping and buzzing goes away, all there is is standard thermal noise at low levels. The beeping and buzzing is so loud it is unusable without using balanced cables. The noise is not present on the headphone output.
I have removed and powered off all SCSI gear, noise is still there
The machine has no internal HD (looking to make or buy a internal HD cable for that)
Is this normal behavior? I this machine defective?
I have the means to run it balanced, I just find it odd that my K2000R is unbalanced with SCSI gear attached and is not noisy like this.
Thank you for your help.
