Hello all,

This is my first post. I am having a problem that has cost me about 30 hours of my time so far and figured someone here may be able to shed some light on the issue.

I recently purchased a 1212M with daughter PCI card and installed the PatchMix software. I disabled my onboard sound on my computer and have run into a few problems. These I won't bore you with right now, but one must be addressed...I can't hear my Windows sounds.

I know most people say "you don't want to!" but unfortunately, I use this computer for audio playback beyond my multitrack recording software (Cubase SX). I'd love to be able to simply mute a track that is routed from my OS audio, but for now, I'd be happy just to know that I can have this sound interface and still hear my computer's audio.

I should note that I am running XP SP2 on a Core 2 Quad with 4 GB RAM, Cubase SX, and currently have myPatchMix setup looking like this:

Wave 1/2 >
ASIO OUT 15/16 >
I/O CARD IN L > (insert) HOST ASIO IN 1/2
PCI CARD S/PDIF L/R > HOST ASIO IN 5/6

I should also note that I tried to use both I/O CARD INs (the R as well as the L) and it wouldn't let me. I tried SENDing to HOST ASIO IN 3/4 but it wouldn't record.

I read the SOS article and all product documentation cover to cover several times. If these questions are ridiculous, I apologize - this whole setup is terribly confusing. Thanks so much in advance. I really can't wait to start recording with this.

Additional note: I'm running my session at 96k. I finally have the memory and hard drive to record at this rate and am excited to do so

Interesting. Since posting this, I found that if I open a new session at 44.1k, I can hear Windows audio.

Any thoughts on why? Or how I can still hear it at 96?
