Who out there has had their power supply upgraded to handle the RFX-32 effects card? Anyone from Canada? I just called E-mu today and they said there is about a month and a half turn around time! That's ridiculous! I can't be without this machine for that long... I'll surely die.
I mentioned to them that there is an audible pop whenever I turn on my e5000 that only occurs when the RFX is installed and they stated they have never heard of that. But other than that, the RFX works fine otherwise... has anyone else noticed this problem?

wut up flipped? my sampler keeps freezing or giving me a fatal error message (about 5 times every time im in the studio ). so i have been saving my banks very frequently to avoid loss of any of my work. anyways, what im actually doing is avoiding the inevitable. i spoke with tech support and they also told me one and a half months turn around time and its only going to montreal which is their nearest e-mu service.....whatever. this probally doesn't help but at least theres two of us
...im strongly considering setting something up with them and just driving it down there myself...maybe it will speed things up? i better go save my work before my sampler crashes

Hi there!
I'm also a victim of the "faulty" supply. What you can try to do to ease the
load is to install a newer HD if you have that possibility. I'm running on RFX with the old supply, but my supply is running on it's limits! (a tech guy told me this when I had the supply repaired the second time!). Older HDs use way more power than newer ones. Using an external one is even better of course. I may add that I'm running on an E6400 Ultra with both RFX, RFX-ADAT and DWAM option. That setup is my supply's absolute maximum. I'm having it replaced anyways though, since I cannot live without a HD in my sampler, and also, the display seems to change in brightness because of the lack of power. Having too much connected in my sampler resultet in my 20GB HD being fried, burning a great hole on one of the HD's chips (vissibly!!!).

Thanks for the tip razmo.
I sent my unit away for a new power supply about 2 months ago... well it will be 2 months in about a week. I am still waiting to get back into the mix. The turn around time is ridiculous.

Well... I decided to do the swapping myself, and are having them just send me a newer supply. This is easier, as I'll not have to send the whole machine in for servicing, and I can use it while waiting for the new supply. My warranties are gone, so there is no advantage for me in sending the machine to them anyway. Also, this sollution will make their work-load much smaller. Afterall, It's nothing more than unscrewing four screws and pulling a power cord.
Another thing is, that they should really not bother if the warranty is still there or not, they should replace it free of charge anyway. When I bought my sampler (VERY early), the RFX had not yet been released, but the RFX was advertised as comming for the sampler very soon. I bought the sampler because I had read about the RFX, and actually bought the sampler because of it. With this in mind, I believe I should be able to expect that the RFX would work in my sampler. Unfortunately for me, the problem was not solved about the dummy supply untill all warraty had passed. I actually complained about the unknown problem BEFORE the thing was solved, but of course that did not give me a new supply as no one knew about the problem then. As a result of this I've asked EMU for a replacement free of charge anyway, and I believe I'm succeeding (afterall, I've had the old supply burn down for repair twice, and my 20G HD fry!).
Regards, Jess.
