Hi all , I just bought a E6400 ultra on ebay. When it arrived it was short the adapters the guy said would come with the cables so I got a 6' scsi cable to test the included drives. The unit has been tested on both the installed 4.7 and now downgraded 6.2 OS's. This is the problems as follows. The internal IDE drive does not show up on boot but will if you run a few drive detect cycles and will load the samples on it fine , Is this a standard problem with the drive not showing up on boot ? Next the cd rom drive is recognized , sometimes needs a scan or two to find it ,but once found will show the folders on the disk but will not show anything else and says no disk in drive if you attemp to load a bank , or more often say's SCSI SW ERROR . The unit will not see the attached jazz drive either.( This is not an ID on the scsi chain problem ).
I have an E64 and it will see the jazz drive no problem .It will also see the cdrom drive and go into the folders , banks , presets and samples on the diskd and sometimes load a single sample but gets the SCSI SW ERROR when tring to load a bank or a preset.
Please please some help from those of you in the know here , Is this a problem with the sampler its self or somthing with the drives . I need to return it if it's the system and put a claim in , in the next 15 days. The seller as I said made it very hard when not sending the adapters for the external drives and has now sent them but they are on the slow boat and only after I said somthing to him , but has led me to believe there is a problem with the drives or unit as when I had mentioned the adapters were missing he stated that he had left them on his desk and then mailed the a few days after the sampler was sent ... but when I demanded the tracking for these ,he supplied and that showed shipping on the same day I demanded the tracking info . Just to let you all know your answers will be most helpful as he has said when asked directly about problems to go to the forums . Thanks all in advance
