E-synth keys audio distortion (random)

Just got an esynth off ebay and the audio is completely distorted on all outputs. Makes no difference what banks are loaded and which format.
It works when it wants to. I can't find a pattern to when it works and when it does not.
Any advice would be much appreciated!!!

"...completely distorted"

do you hear the samples and do they sound like overloaded or you mean really nasty distortion (noise) ???. If it's the first go check MASTER > SETUP > OUTPUT (IN/OUT if you have a later EOS) and see if you have Output Boost activated, also check the Headroom (set it to 7, good average headroom setting - see also headroom description in manual). If it's the latter PULL THE PLUG, open unit and see if something worked loose during transport (cables) and reseat them. If nothing of this helps then maybe your D/A converters are damaged, then I would return the unit. Have no other idea at the moment ,so maybe this helps you a little.

fixed it
