no rfx bugs ...
anyone else ?

Did you get the panning bug before you used the adat outputs? If you did then I might invest in an rfx adat card.

I've got a killer 'panning' bank that I could mail to people (when I get back for Christmas Hols) if they wanted to try it out. I have tested it on 2 other Emu Ultras with RFX and have managed to recreate the panning effect straight away. In fact I think one of the rhodes banks on the free CD's cause it the problem - I'll check when I get back.

Sometimes I use an output pair as 2 mono channels, the bug is a bit harder to indetify like this however it shows itself by cutting a few samples at the beginning of a sound. Ever wondered why that nice kick with a nice crisp 'dop' at the beginning turns into a muffled 'dop' every now and then ;)?. The frequency of this bug varies between different banks however seems to increase when mono and stereo samples are used.

new experiences

i posted earlier here, on page 5.
ive been working fine with my e6400ultra + rfx adat for about a year.
yesterday it died as it can no longer recognize its sample ram.
dont know the reason, tried to exchange rams - no difference.
the machine was only in the rack. one day, it didnt recognize the ram, after switching on and off a few times it did. now nothing helps any more.

so i had to move all extensions to my spare e4xt, which was buggy on outs 4,5,6 and 7 when i tested it a year ago (mainly 6, see post before).

i did put the flash rams of the old ampler with 4.61 in - instead of 4.7
actually it seems to work fine after one day of experience, for whatever reason, but thank god, otherwise i would have been really stuck.
im still unsure, as i tested the e4xt also with 4.61 a year ago and that didnt make a difference.

i also did everything only through the mixer page, didnt use the rfx.
for me, its currently only needed to access the adata. in earlier days, that adat rfx board was cheaper than the regular one.

did work properly thze same way with the old machine in the past year.
maybe thats the point, hopefully. maybe its also abou the flash rams.
cheers out to the man misanthrop :-)

And there is something i dont understand i m a new EMU USER. Are two diffrent ADAT-Cards out there ? one with RFX-Card together ? and one with only ADAT ? Thanx to all and hope we get a Bug free EOS-4.7

yes, there are two adat cards.
one is connected to the rfx and therefore only can be connected if an rfx is inside - as long as i dont hear anything different from a tech nerd who tried out to connect it different.
the other doesnt need rfx and can be used with ultras and old e4x as well as far as i know.

btw. re my above post: the fading memory seems to be a damaged ic.
an emu expert reported that that happened occasionally. the ic fades away and then the emu can see the memory any more

good luck for you all and long lives for the emus.

The RFX Adat Board support 24 Bit! the other not.

I Work with both, work fine !!!. for Routing with z.B RME Interface etc.

and also Realtime Input Prozessing -

Did anyone nows if this Card works with the EMU-Darwin ?

you work with both?
but not in the same emu, or do you?
if they are in the same emu, it doesnt make sense to send two times the same 16 channels out - or - oh my god - can you send 32 channels out?

no -yes , i have two Complett full build Emu4XT /Platinum.

So, 2 X RFX . 4 X Adat out, 2X Adat in and Analog...etc etc

and they are routed to a RME Hammerfall Sythem. So, i have a 16/32 -matrix Line/in Mixer . All workt with "24 bit". ...Now!.... Before a had trouble with the normal Adat i/o Card in E4XT - the whole Strang of Routing going up to "16 Bit !!!! "Only because of this Card!..So i changed and everything is Fine :-). That why..!

"Yes of course we have this bug well documented and it is currently being researched and troubleshooted at the engineering level.

Now for the record E-MU support personel are regularly lurking on these groups but will not post unless we feel we need to for the sake of accuracy.

So out of politeness I responded to your RFX inquiry which should be common knowledge as the PM for that product does post regularly.

However please don't feel slighted in anyway when you see E-MU support not posting to general comments or topics already addressed by E-MU management in public forums. This is not the offical forum to seek responses from E-MU technical support and any posts here from E-MU support personel will be the exception not the norm.

If you wish to contact E-MU technical support for any E-MU support related reason please don't hesitate to contact us:

Wouldn't it be great if it's true! I sure hope they are addressing the random panning bug as well. How about it Max?

Hey, anyone else notice EOS 4.7 is back on E-MU's support page as a Beta?!!

Has anyone actually checked if its the same as the previous 4.7 beta? I know there's little chance of EMU updating the os but just for the off chance that they released a beta2 :)

Seeing as it's a beta I expect they'll be wanting plenty of feedback on any possible bugs.

Has anybody had these rfx issues whilst running in an e5000ultra ?

Also - any of you disgruntled rfx owners - i'd be willing to take a stab and see how my luck goes... if you're willing to sell me your rfx32 that is probably sitting collecting dust....

Hi Everyone,

The thread seems to have gone very quite... :0

I spoke to EMU in Ireland two weeks ago about my PSU and the RFX. The lady i spoke to works with Dave the founder of EMU. She called me back last week about arranging a meeting with EMU...

Who in this forum would like to come and talk to EMU about Open sourcing EOS and the RFX card?

I am also interested in maybe pooling money to sue EMU - your thoughts on this please....

forgot to add, legally we have a case. EMU have sold us equipment that was not working correctly, but was advertised and sold as doing so.

Trading standards love this sort of stuff
