Just got a E6400 Ultra on Friday Oct 29, Everything works perfect except for the volume knob, which is apparently controlling the volume digitally. When trying to calibrate the knob its giving of weird numbers, or should I say, letters, on the screen area where it should be giving off the High and Low values for volume upon turning the knob. Is there perhaps a way to use SYSEX to fix my volume issue.

I'm having a hard time finding a replacement knob on the Internet so far. I did noticed when I received the sampler, that the power connector to the volume knob board was disconnected, the original owner passed away, so I am not sure if that was intentional as a fix or what.

Please help Ive got the drive now loaded with sounds, I've purchased a UAD-1 card to process my samples and I'm itching to get some juices flowing though this thing.

Update: Going to test mode, and choosing the Panel Test, the volume knob readout is acting erratic. When i turn the knob down(left)full, it stops acting up, allowing me to press other panel buttons to see if they are working or not, however, once i adjust the knob to the right it intermittently shows its readout in the test, the more I turn the knob to the right the worst the erratic behavior is.

There has to be a way to control the main volume by SYSEX, I just don't know what command that could be

Okay for anybody who runs into this problem with strange Volume behavior, it would seem that the Volume Pot needs to be replaced...2 options:

1. Order a replacement pot, there is one place I know of that does pro audio repair that carries the Vol pot, knobs, buttons, screens and memory for the emu E4 ultra and its derivative, but the Volume pot need to be soldered onto the little pc-board where the original pot resides that place is "Epr Electronics", google it.

or

2. Get a 50 KOhms Volume pot from Radio Shack LOL, unfortunately for me this was all they had in the proper Resistance (50 KOhms)... ImageHUGE!!

But it worked, so until I order the proper part, Ive chucked this in the box(Ive lost the headphone connection for now and it sticks out the volume hole like a sore thumb), and am a happy camper checking out my newly acquired EMU e6400 Ultra
