Clicks when syncing via ADAT

Hi guys.

I have an E6400 Ultra with the ADAT board installed.

I use it with my two Creamware Pulsar II cards and most of the time everything's ok.

The Pulsar cards are my sync master and the Emu is the slave.

My problem is that I once in a while (several times an hour) get clicks / ticks from the sampler into my Pulsar cards.

I have tried 'everything'; setting my Emu as master and the Pulsars as slave, changing from 44.1 to 48 KHz but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have any ideas or tips I can try out ?

Thanks in advance;

Kenneth

pardon my unhelpful reply, but this used to happen to me and is why i'll never go back to ADAT! it is a sync problem somewhere, but where or how, i don't know. i had nothing but nightmares w/ ADAT.
good luck! :grin:

i also had hell the first day. but sorted it out. you have to set up the word clock correctly. set the emu as slave and the sound card sync to internal - atleast that is how it's done with motu cards. you might also have to set the correct sync inside your audio sequencer - atleast with logic you have to.

good luck. i highly recomend adat! 24bit @ no latecy straight into seperate tracks in logic. then add vst-plugs in realtime. have fun! :)

Hi guys and thanks a lot for your replies.

Well .. It's kinda ok for now, but I am not truely happy with the 'unstability' of the setup. (The occationally POP I mean).

I have worked setting up PC's for the consumer and pro market in the past and I know how to set up a system properly and found it very strange that I couldn't get this pretty simple setup working correctly.

Maybe I'll 'check' for dust in the ADAT connectors. That could be it :-)
