Hello I recently got an Emu E5000 Ultra and have had some SCSI problems but have finally acquired a CDrom drive which seems to load o.k. After filling the 128 MB ram with samples I generally go into tools 2 and go to sample integrity and fix all samples ( as i have previously found clicks at loop points on some presets- the loop point not transferring correctly I presume). On a number of banks that I have loaded, when I go into sample edit in order to go to tools 2, I get a message giving me the name and sample number of one of the samples and "Sample size!!". for instance on one bank i go into sample edit and it reads- S086 T ONE sample size!!and gives you the option to click o.k(It is always a large sample of 4 or 5 seconds or more),when I go into tools 2 and sample integrity to fix all samples I get the same message again- which goes away once I click o.k. and I then go to fix all samples but everytime that I go back into sample edit again the same message returns again naming the same large sample.
Does anybody have any idea why this happens and whether there is something I am meant to do to prevent this message keep coming back. The message doesn't seem to prevent me from doing anything but as I am getting it on several banks that I have saved it makes me wonder if there is something I am not doing quite right. Is this message meant to be prompting any specific action from me. There doesn't seem to be any mention of it in the manual although it is a pretty long manual, not really very well written and rather lacking in some ways.

hey,
i just got a used e4xt ultra which was being sold for parts and it's doing the same thing.. on top of that it has output issues (sounds like a jitter problem) but after troubleshooting i have no idea what's causing it..
did you every sort out the 'sample size!' message? i thought it was related to my output problem but maybe not, if you're not having that problem as well
cheers

my problem was exactly the same, try this:

Is your EMU set to combine Left/Right into stereo? Are the original Samples Stereo-splitted?
Try to experiment with the settings under "Master -> Setup -> Import"

maybe again same story... check if the original Samples are stereo-splitted and your EMU is set to combine the signal. If this is the reason for your problem, then you can delete your samples, they are obviously garbade. But I don't know if this option "combine" for splitted samples never works or sometimes don't work, and under what circumstances it doesn't work as it should.
it is possible that this is also the reason for your output issues (which only occur with some samples but not all samples) - i read your other thread about "help me interpret these diagnostic test results". i think the piano on your 20GB HD is broken, theres no way to fix it.

thanks - yeah, its hard to tell if the samples on the hd are saved that way.. but in the end the same thing happens with almost any sample i load to that unit. something much worse is happening than just corrupted samples. i'm pretty sure the only way that unit could be fixed is by sending it to EPR for service.
