Emu Ultra - Screen fades when notes are triggered

Hello All,

I recently fired up my trusty Emu E-synth Ultra, and noticed that the screen takes a long time to refresh (text locks up a bit) and the text also fades a bit when notes are triggered with a keyboard.

I'm going to open it and re-seat all of the connectors - in the meantime, would anyone have an explanation for this?
It has a CF drive in the Floppy Space, as well as a 20gb Ide Drive - could this be an issue?

Cheers

I would say the power supply is struggling.
I think it is on its way out. Test this by disconnecting the IDE HD, and see if the screen is brighter.
Are you using a 3.5 HD? I will assume you are as it is only 20GB, if so you may get a little more life out of the PSU if you substitute the 3.5 IDE drive for a lower power 2.5 laptop drive.
In my experience with a dying PSU in my Platinum I found it would work for a while once a extra was removed, but gradually the machine would lock up / screen problems. In the end the Platinum was down to the bare bones and still failing.
Since the new power supply has been fitted it's running 100%.

Thanks for your reply Jahfunk,

Turns out it was a crap IEC cable (swapped it and now all good)
