Trouble with Translator and CD

I am getting trouble with a burned EMU CD from an image that I have built in Translator and burned with Nero. The virtual image consists of a directory and a few samples in that directory. (I renamed the directory from "Default Folder" to another name, if that matters in any way.)

"There are no folders on drive", the EMU E64 tells me.

I'm thinking it might have to do with the kind of Raw Mode / non-Raw Mode and buffer length in Nero.

It has worked before but I do not remember the exact settings.

Btw, I'm burning to CD-RW and it has been erased before every burn session.

Does anyone know the exact settings in Nero for burning EMU images, or what else could be wrong?

It seems the buffer size was the problem - had to go with non-Raw-Data instead of Raw-Data in Nero. :slayer:

Hi Tectonic

I see that you have found a solution to your Emu-cd burning problem. For others who might have the same problem here is my recipe:

1) Start translator and create the usual virtual Emu drive in translator.
2) Drag your EOS banks to the virtual drive (make sure that it doesn't exceed 650 mb).
3) Start Nero burning and skip the Wizard if it comes up. You should have the file browser in on the right side and nothing on your left side. If you have a file browser on your left side, close it.
4) In Nero choose the file menu and choose Burn image.
5) When looking for the Emu.nrg image choose to see all files and choose your emu.nrg file.
6) When Nero ask for the type of image just choose the default (Data mode 1).
7) Do not check the raw data block.
8) Choose 2048 block size. Leave the Image header and trailer to zero (default) and choose OK.
9) When the burn window appears, choose finalize cd.

You should also know that mixing EOS banks with ESI banks will corrupt the folder were the ESI banks appear. Stay with EOS banks only. Translator cannot convert from ESI to EOS just yet.

Best regards

Brian

Hi

Can someone tell me if you have had any luck reading a rewritable cd on the E4 made via Translator and Nero? I can make a none rewritable cd work but not the rewritable.

Maybe it has something to do with which cd-drive I'm usnig....

Best regards

Brian :grumble:

I got it to work directly with rewritable cds, so maybe it's your cd burner, cd reader or the cds themselves? I use Verbatim cds at the moment.

Hi All,

I bought Translator EMU edition recently and am having trouble with it. When I create an EOS disk image and drag and drop some akai or exs banks on it, everything seems fine (I can see all banks and samples) but when I burn the CD (using Toast), only the first bank and the first sample are visible?
Also, you mention creating images as .nrg but with my copy of translator the only option available is .img. Also, you can't burn .img with Nero?
Could this be the problem? Do I have to overwrite and type .nrg instead?

Thanks

Yes i have done this successfully a few weeks ago using a Plextor 12/4/32 drive with Liteon CDRW media that came with my 24/10/40. Made sure i tested it first on the RW media, worked no problem then burned to write once media..all cool

I basically did the same as the list this dude provided.

Translator on the Mac is a POS. I got Translator for the PC (fell out of the sky stylee), its still a POS but it just barely works.

The EMU wont recognize EXS banks anwayz so i dunno what your trying to burn a EMU disk with those bank types. Additionally the EMU probably wont recognize akai banks on an EMU format disk. Remember EMU reads Akai 'FORMATTED' disks and then converts them to EMU banks. It doesnt read Akai banks on EMU formatted disks lol. U b better off making an Akai image, copy the Akai banks an burn that to put in the EMU, then once u load em into the EMU, save them to the hard disk in the EMU cos they will now be E4 banks.

U wont be able to do this with your copy of 'chickenshit fuckulator' anywayz cos its EMU only!!! smoke some crack, im sure the full version will just fall outta the sky an land on your lap as it did for me ;-)

u could always PM me if u dont smoke crack ;-)))
