okay i have an iomega zip drive 250meg. had it for about two three years i think. well i plugged it into day (i never leave my gear plugged in for long periods of time) and i heard it click, there was no disk in the drive though. so i unplugged it and tried again, and it did it again, this time i watched it and i saw the light change, on the switch ejection and power. i turned it on and off with out unplugging it and it didn't make the clicking noise.

does your zip drives do this? or... am... i... about to experiance the CLICK OF DEATH.

if it is, then my next question is this: does anyone use cdrw drives to store there samples, and can you use a usb to scsi adaptor with in a daisy chain. hope you guys can rest my fears or save my samples...

I have just uploaded Trouble In Paradise's Zip Tester which will test 100 Meg, 250 Meg and U.S.B. 2.0 Iomega (I can spell!) Zip Drives and Disks for the dreaded click and corruption problems... Hope it uploaded successfully..... Mine tested A.O.K. yeah......Next time you buy, take this baby with you and hopefully the seller will be obliging enough to let you run it...
