I used to have a Wavestation SR and I stupidly sold it. It'll be the next piece of kit I buy. It's not half as hard to program as people think.

The SR version hasn't got any audio inputs. Only the A/D version has. The SR is a single-rack version of the Wavestation EX keyboard with no features sacrificed. It has no joystick though, but I remember using an expression pedal to control Vector synthesis live.

The only problem is patch/program storage (or whatever they're called in korg parlance). There are fewer patches than there are programs in every bank and it's easy to lose track of which programme uses what patch, so you edit one patch and it affects other programs, etc. Like the Roland D70.

Brilliant machine otherwise.

I think I've gotten the gear hunt out of my system. My setup

2 EMU4 Ultras both with maxed RAM, one with orbit and phatt roms, both with RFX32 and ADAT expansions.
1 K2500RS maxed with sampling option, KDFX, PRAM upgrade and 128 meg ram
1 Ensoniq ASRX maxed including the 8 output expander
1 Yamaha AW16G digitial multitrack
1 Edirol Midi patch bay
2 Behringer audio patch bay (I know, I cheaped out)
1 Novation KSR Rack version of KS4
1 Behringer Ultra Curve pro (not in the signal chain) I use it for the RTA
1 Terratec Axon AX100 Mk2 (I play my Rickenbacker through this, its a fantastic realtime pitch to midi converter)
1 novation X-Station 61 key controller
1 MPC500 maxed ram to 128 and 5 Compact Flash cards
@ $600 worth of cabling
A sound library of almost 500 cd's

I'm feeling like I should be able to make some sane insanity with this setup. My only disappointment is that I can't buy talent.

you know, i wonder if you could upgrade one of those to a dual 1.25 GHz beast?

i already bought a blue and white g3 tower and have it mounted. its working well so far... i just need a midi interface for it, which is in the mail.

theres me rack monitor, as of yet to be racked... i think ill try to find an skb case somewhere for that and the keyboard/trackpad. i like minimal moving parts. those tiny track balls you can get are horrible compared to a trackpad.

Image

wooo got me doepfer sequencer all racked and loaded and ready to rock! i now need a bigger place to put all this shit!

Image

mr toranaga, do you believe that a fast dual g4 is still a contender for an osx daw?

for logic or digital performer yes.

I use Ableton, and a dual 1.25 was a no go.

I would put a uad/1 in it

they are also very noisy. which i am over. I hate noisy computers.

a dual g4 is a good computer though, don't hesitate

this thing reads and writes files compatible with renoise, fast tracker II, and a few others. it reads more than it writes.

my phone is only 200mhz yet this program is able to crank out up to 32 voices of sample playback... (all i have seen it do so far)
amazing actually. well at least to me! im geeked that i can use its touch surface and a bluetooth keyboard!

im trying to get it to work with a mouse, more on that when it works!
