yeah you know, all i have ever had experience with are preamp plugins. i have been most impressed with the big sound i can get out of them.
i admit im not knowledgeable on the subject. oh well, gotta start somewhere.

im not sure thats what i would use the FMR preamp for, with its reputation for clean colorless audio, and since i dont use a vocal mic, im not sure its the preamp for me.

im impressed with the effect you can get with these plugins from Digital Fish Phones, one in particular: 'Blockfish'

the saturation stage sounds good to my ears.

im also a big fan of Disco DSP 'ThrillMe' i love the squashed sound you can get with it. i wonder if theres a hardware preamp or compressor that could lend a similar effect.

im also impressed with Steinberg's Magneto, as simple and old as it is.

i would like to build a hardware clone possibly at some point. i want an aggressive sound with lots of color for drums in particular, but really for everything. they are in the $1000 range however, which is a bit high for me at the moment.

its a filter pedal made by univox/korg... the same filter that comes on the minikorg/maxikorg/korg 700. its got a lowpass/highpass combo with fixed filter Q and an envelope follower, and then a wet/dry mix. the thing sounds gorgeous! definitely junglistic! i should just get the minikorg and put an analog input on it. theyre cheaper than the pedals usually. definitely a sleeper!

I bought a fender jazz bass for Christmas for myself.

I have had 2 lessons so far, and I am picking it up rather quickly.

this is my first musical instrument, that is not a sampler.

I am drooling over a " new synth".. the gear lust are on me!

I have looked at the Korg Radias.. looks cool.. but on the other hand it seems to be a bit trancy..

Alesis ION.. more my thing.. sounds like a sweet synth.. i havent played it.. but seens som stuff on youtube.

Access Virus b/c.. not highest on my list.. its a overpriced va synth in my eyes, but can create some nice sounds.

Waldorf Q... i just love waldorf.. can't go wrong with that...

the biggest problem i have is that.. i don't have money at all...
the urge is there but the money is not!!! ahh.. synth drug.. i wish i never took the first dose!!

hey man i was budget less for most of my life. im almost 40 now, and i finally have a budget. i love gear, and am happy to be able to buy my dream machines. it hasnt come with out lots of hard work, however. i load/unload trucks all day long so i can buy gear. i have pulled muscles in my back and i had tennis elbow all last year. i make sacrifices.

good luck to you tho, may you find a budget somewhere. gear is fun.
