Use the E4 as an effect send device?

Postby dugawug » Tue May 03, 2005 10:10 pm

i was thinking to use the EMU as a hardware effect send in Cubase SX3, route audio to it to utilize the filters (the RFX aren't really worth it) and automating them.

i tried it and it seemed to work, but the audio that returned was awfully quiet...possible user error.

curious if anyone else uses the EMU this way.

Used the RFX as send effects... with my Roland VS. A series of something like six soft knee compressors gave me that sound I was looking for... I simply folowed the manual, dunno anything more (it was in the RFX manual... I'm not perfectly sure whether you can do it, but I think there is something written directly before/after the part that describes how to use the RFX send....)

i used to do that (before i had to send the emu off for repair). i routed the waldorf pulse through the inputs and then through different filters/effects depending on what key was pressed. and it worked brilliantly.

i don't know what the problem with your setup is though. you could off course just use the rfx compressor to make it louder or maybe your signal is just low in volume. sorry for stating the obvious  mind you, the pulse is an awfully loud synth so maybe that's why i never had that problem.
