Hello...Just got here

Postby ikechukwu » Wed Jul 06, 2005 7:19 pm

Hi peeps...Been on a lurker for sometime round these here parts and decided to make my first post.

This is an awesome forum btw.

Just have a few quick questions to aid me in learning this beast (E6400 Ultra) which I bought recently.....(My first propa sampler in 13 years of music production :slayer: )

1) Is it possible to assign and trigger the internal sequencer from keyboard notes.

2) Can you internally record a sequence as a sample or do you have to cable the sampler's output to the sampler's input.

3) Where can I get an uprated power supply that would be capable of powering the sampler, an internal Zip100 drive and an internal hard drive?

Thanks

1. No, altho u can trigger it from a mmc device i.e. software or a transport control of sorts.
2. You have to plug cables into the samples input.
3. No such thing as a uprated power supply this is just bad info, it does not even take a standard psu so you would not beable to just upgrade, leave the zip external for less problems.

2. wouldn't you be able to just 'resample' the outputs directly? well, at least i was able to resample internally when being triggered from an external sequencer. i would guess that it'd work the same if samples were being triggered internally?

3. wouldn't an Ultra model already have the bigger PSU installed?

Thanks people...I haven't actually checked my psu watt rating...What wattage should I be looking at to run these devices?

I will record a sequenced part to Mini Disc and them sample it back in.

Must say I love this forum...Given me a kick up the bum to get back into production.

Look forward to dirty minimal D&B from Ikechukwu ya heeeeearrrr

Not so, e64_eli. Older Emus (pre-09/2001) came with a 43W PSU. After that the PSU was upgraded to a 65W one and anyone under warranty would have the swap done for free. Otherwise it's $132.50 + shipping from EPR Electronics (www.eprelectronics.com). You can also get creative and put in a separate PSU just for the hard drive (and ZIP if you want) which you can get for about $17 and it will have enough juice to power both internally. I've done that, took an hour, and my Emu is very happy.

Only if it was made after 09/2001. All Emus before that had the smaller 43W PSU, Ultra or not.

as for #2 though, couldn't you 'resample' the output while the sequencer is playing instead of recording to MiniDisc?

I stand corrected.

Yes, this can be done.
