Hi all,
I haven't had my e6400 long, so I'm still learning the
ropes. I've decided to put EOS 4.70 on there so that
I can generate FAT CDROMS on my PC to get new
samples onto the sampler. (Yes, I know there are
some bugs with 4.70, but they don't look like they'll affect me.)
I downloaded the EOS470.exe from the Emu Zone
(http://www.basscadets.co.uk/emu/EOS470.htm)
and I finally managed to make a floppy that should
work (OK, I needed to download a tool to let me format
a floppy at 1.68MB; and then I had to find a Windows 98
system because the EOS470.exe utility fails under XP).
But, eventually, I got a floppy that was written to without
errors.
The trouble is, my e6400 doesn't boot off it. Sure, it
accesses the floppy drive during the bootup, but it never
goes into the mode where I'm supposed to be able to
load 4.70 and burn it into the OS flash memory. It just
heads straight on into its normal operating mode, waiting
for me to play.
The e6400 currently has EOS 4.62, with the 2MB
ROM, I believe, so I don't think I need to do any of
that flash-prep stuff or whatever, since 4.70 should
just roll onto 4.62 just fine, right?
Does anyone think I'm doing something wrong?
Or, would a kind US-based soul be able to send me
a floppy that's known to work?
Or something?
Thanks!
Dan
