HELP !!! Newbie Replacing Hard Drive E4X Turbo

Postby yuppy » Sat Feb 18, 2006 9:46 am

I want to replace the original 1gb hard drive with 18gb Ultra SCSI hard disk with 8 bit 50 pin adapter..What SCSI ID should I use and the..Adapter board has jumper pins to select the ID but the main hard drive also has jumpers to select the ID. Should both be set to same ?
If anyone can help I'd appreciate it..Thanks

hey there..

i'm new to the E-mu world myself but i'm pretty proficient with computer stuff..

I'm not clear on what you're doing. Are you converting a hotswap SCA drive to 50-pin SCSI? or a 68pin to 50-pin? either way, the adapter's jumpers should override the ones on the drive.. but the manual for your converter is the best source for this info (unless it's an ebay special sorta thing)

As far as SCSI ID for the drive, I believe the default is 6 but this can be set inside the EOS I think.. these are guesses but all i can tell u is that my 3 e-mu's are all set to SCSI ID 6.

Also, I'll tell you that most of those UltraSCSI drives are pretty loud and get really hot so it may not be the best choice.

Finally, I posted a question on here and I haven't heard anything and since you have the exact same sampler as I do, hopefully u can help me out! I can't figure out how much FlashROM I have and the screen that's supposed to say so doesn't tell me. How did u figure it out?
