Direct Monitoring in Cubase SX 3

Postby crytek » Sun May 14, 2006 3:22 pm

I'm using Cubase SX3 on a mac mini (1gig ram, 1.44ghz processor, 80 gig hd), an m-audio audiophile FW, and an emu e4xt ultra and an m-audio oxy 8. In cubase, I have have a midi track enabled, and I have my midi keyboard trigging my emu via midi. Now, I can see that I am transmitting data to my emu, yet I can't hear anything. Did a quick check on the audiophile, and I have all my outs and ins connected properly. When I record, I can see the data being recorded and hear what I've played, but when I try to hear what I'm doing while trying to lay down an arrangement with my emu, I can't hear anything. Tried searching through the manual, but couldn't find anything. Will try again tomorrow morning.

Has anyone had any sucess with direct monitoring into cubase? Would I have to set up an audio channel to recive the input?

thanks

think you need to set up an audio track with the input as whatever the emu is coming in on, then press the little speaker button on the track to switch on monitoring
