i read this tip on a user group somewhere. it made no sense, but then things for me typically fall into place all the sudden. i change by violent progressions, learning something over night is what happens to me... anyway, here it is.
get all the presets you want to use loaded on your emu.(keep channel 10 open).you need to go into preset manage and create two new presets. these are going to be empty presets. well kind of.
name the first preset reverb and the second one flange
now in the multimode window, go to the reverb preset, then select global. you should find yourself at a screen were you see initial controllers. i have no idea what this is. hit the button so you can scroll to the right. keep going until you get to master efx A or master efx b.
find the one that has reverb and pick it, i don't care what one you pick. now you can use the main, but keep in mind this will run that effect over the entire program. for more control pick a sub mix. add a precentage say 75%. oh yeah, you will notice if this effect is going.
now do it again with the other empty preset, pick a flanger and so on and so on.
now this is the reason i said to leave track ten empty, this is going to be your controller track. you can pick what ever channel you want, but default is track ten. for right now you should set track ten to disabled. you can now play your choon and hear no effects. now somewhere, anywere, insert a bank change. you might need to do this acouple of times inorder to get it to change to the preset you want, lets say reverb. this bascially works as if you are changeing instruments in mid song, but keeping it on once channel. so once you find were reverb and flanger are, you should be able to switch between the two and go back to no effects just with a change in the bank.
you can use the subs to effect only one channel, just make sure that the main has no value. you should also be able to have a chain of multiable effects going at once. with in reason of course. say you have a drum section that is on sub 1 and then you take the bass and have that sub 2, so you put preset one on that has reverb, and now your drums have reverb, and lets say you want to have a tremelol on your bass, but you want to keep the reverb going, you make the next preset have reverb still set to sub one, but then you take the sub 2 value and set that so you only hear the tremelo. bascially you get both effects running but on differnt channels.
i would like to say you could do more, but i am not sure. i think this is as far as it can go, if any one can get more, please give a shout.
sorry so long.
