i need CONTROL!!!!!!!
what i need is the ability to tune my sampler down to half cents, or so.
what i have actualy done is figured out, in away, how to create a square wave from sine waves. yes i know that i can just sample a square wave off the test tones, but this is more of an excercise in additive synthesis.
i have looked at my wave that i had created with six sine waves, and it goes pretty square for a few cycles and then goes all weird. the reason this is happening is because i don't have all the sines tune exactly. i can't really fine tune them any more, as far as i know using the fine pitch in the preset edit menu. depending on the how high the sine is, the amount of increase or decrease experianced by 1 fine tune value, can be anywhere from 1 hz or lower, to 5 hz and higher. the reason why, is because the fine tune only increases the pitch by about 1.5 cents per 1 incremental increase/decrease.
so what i was wondering, is there some place on the emu, master, utilties, somewhere, where i can make the fine tune act more sensitively, lets say make it so that the value of the fine tune is less then 1.5 cents. a higher resolution...
perhaps this will make more sense.... there are 1200 cents in each scale, for every 100 cents you have a half step. so from 0 to 1200 is an octave, as it were in egual tempered music like ours... so what i need is finer control over the pitch, that is what i am curious about.
sorry about being so ambigious on the first part.
hope this clears things up. cheers
