A question for emu-heads, from a guy considering buying one:

Can external midi triggering from a drum kit be set so that samples play as one-shots on the e-5000? And do they have a convincing repetition sound, eg when playing drum rolls? Is the response time tight as well? (ie 1ms or below)

I know the e5000 is like crazy-powerful, but because I know nothing about rack-mounts I'm unsure as to exactly what they're customised to do. That's why i'm asking about these pretty basic functions.

Haven't had a chance to get my kit connected just yet (working on sampling NEP's kit from his DVD's), but I have a Roland OctaPad connected to my e5000. So far no lag issues. Once I have a bit more time I have a Roland TD-12S that's very expanded (to give you an idea NEP's entire front kit minus the MalletKAT). The real problem I foresee is getting the highhat to play properly. I know that NEP uses an ESI4000 with his MalletKAT, and some of his drums pads as well.

You must understand that the power of eos is wast;) You want a good snare roll, not that "repeatrepeatrepeat" sound you get if you just trigger the same sound lot'sa times? Do some cording, and you can get the snare to randomly play at a slightly different filterres, and/or a very slightly different pitch for each time you trigg it, do some more cording and you cord fast repeated trigging to change the attack so you don't get the loud attack you get when just hitting it once. My norwegian-english might not be 100%, but do you got an idea about what you can get eos to do? I mean, I wish all my other synths got the same cording system...
