RFX is it worth it?

Postby ehasting » Sun May 13, 2007 11:59 am

Hey,

I am a proud owner of a emu e6400 ultra! This ultra has a rfx-32 card installed. But i am looking into upgrading to os 4.7. i have understood that i will loose the rfx card because of bugs.. is the card that good, that its not worth upgrading to 4.7? I havent even figured out how to use it yet.. (i havent got any manual, and got the sampler yesterday).

I am realy tempted to get the realtime controll of the filter-reso!!

Well.. since non have a general view on this thing.. i can answer it my self.. partly :).

i have been working with the ultra with rfx32 card for some time now.. and i must say.. that i miss the realtime controll of the reso.. especialy when using drumloops.. but i see that its a workaround for me to slice the drumsample and map it to diffrent keys (like rex).. then i will not notice the lack of reso.. but on pads there are no way outside.

But on the other side. the RFX32 card do sounds quiet good.. and you have a bunch of effects to play with.. you can combine and make some sick effect presets.. and you have plenty of busses.. SO.. i am standing excatly where i was in the start.. i dont realy know yet what to do. but i think i will let the future decide :). If i start using the rfx32 card permanently, i will continue with my setup.. if i am not using it.. then i will upgrade to 4.7 :).
