preset crossfade

Postby sturoc » Tue Oct 23, 2007 3:20 am

Hmmm Thinking : Is there a way to crossfade one preset to the next perhaps upon bumping thru presets or within one?
Would this be called amplitude crossfade?
Thanks

Within one preset, you could assign a Cord that causes say, the Mod Wheel to fade some voices in (Mod Wheel --> AmpVol --> amount%) and another Cord that causes the same controller to fade the other voices out (Mod Wheel --> AmpVol --> negative amount%).

Thanks for the reply ,
So there is no programming that will do it automatically when bumping between presets ?
Althought the mod wheel technique sounds pretty good.
and by " some voices " is there a limitation?

No, that would imply having two presets active at the same time in Whole mode.

Or use a foot pedal if you are playing with both hands.

Make sure that the two sections to crossfade are not set up in the same Voice in Preset Edit mode. Cords can be set up for each Voice, not just for the whole preset, which is great, so the only limitation is the number of Voices. What I mean by Voice is "group of sample zones".

For instance, if you want to crossfade between a pan flute sound and a shakuhachi sound, set up one preset with the pan flute (multi)sample(s) as Voice 1, then set up your shakuhachi (multi)sample(s) as Voice 2.

Go to Cords, make sure you only select Voice 1 and set up a Cord as follows: ModWh --> AmpVol --> +100%
Select Voice 2, and set up a Cord as follows: ModWh --> AmpVol --> -100%

If the crossfade is the wrong way round, swap the values (+/-100%) round. You may want to experiment with different values too.

Hope this makes sense. There's so much you can do with Cords. One of my favourites is to assign LFO2 (free run) with a slow speed to AmpPan and the sound moves from left to right, etc.

Doesn't the 'Link' feature allow crossfades (possibly volume or key) that allow you modulate between Presets?
