I may be confused then.. I have read that e6400 can "be brought up to full ultra status." is this true? and if so that would mean the fx card would work right? or no? And if not What fx card would/does work with 6400? Thanks for response!

you would need to buy a new motherboard. and they cost as much as a whole ultra unit, or so ive read. ive also read that there would potentially be problems with other components after the upgrade.

The "full ultra status", in your case, probably means that an E6400 has been upgraded with several options usually found standard on Ultra's (Full ram, latest EOS software version, upgraded cpu flash ram, bigger hard drive?). And yeah, it seems like the RFX-32 is only for Ultra's. I know it comes standard on a certain E-mu model, but can't remember which?

I really appreciate everyones ideas and help, thanX. So If I open my e6400 classic, is there a way to tell if I have an ultra mother board or classic? What should I notice between an ultra MB and classic MB...? Effects are no longer an issue I just figured out how to attach emu to my ART sgx 2000 X... Shit-ton of effects in there!!!!

Also, any suggestions on a compatible midi controller for e6400? I know the best thing to do is to just start playing with trial and error. I have this thing though I like to know what I'm workin with.

Infinity,
