Hi Guys...

This my first experience of EMU samplers... always used akai's (coz they were around) then switched to Kontakt....but its never really sound how i want it...

so was given some advice - GET AN EMU! lol

so here i am...

Right just got a basic 64mb ram standard E5000 - now what mods are available for it..????

i was thinkin about gettin an internal hd - what sort of size can the emu handle and what drive do i need?

how can i upgrade the ram and also how do i upgrade outputs?

Thanks very much

cheers

Hey.. welcome to the emu world! :D

regarding size. Depending on what Eos you are running. But i am running eos 4.7, and are using a hmm. 80gb harddrive i think (laptop harddrive to eliminate hd noise).

you can also use up to 128mb of ram. And there are plenty of input and outputs you can get for the box. And you can get a effect card called RFX-32 (you need this card for some of the output/input options).

When it comes to moving samples i have landed on a solution where i use one scsi zipdrive (250mb) on the emu sampler and another usb zipdrive on my iMac, then i format my zips on the emu as fat format (i can use fat format since i am using eos 4.7), and i can easily drag and drop. just remember that the emu cant load 24bit samples.. so you need to convert them all to 16bit.

But most of the time i record my samples straight in.. i find the sample.. set the emu in arm/record mode, and trigger it off :).

OK sp zip drive is the solution - zips formatted to emu then drop 16bits samples from mac onto them?

is this correct?

and with regards to the hd any recommendations and do i need a drive kit to fit it?

so 80gig ide 5400rpm maxtor or something? or even 7200rpm?

is it fairly easy and straight forward?

All sounding ok to me... i definitely wanna install an internal drive.

Also the zip solution seems to be the one for mac to emu vibes....

THANK YOU

peace
