Hi again,

It seems a bit hard to nail down the facts of what's needed to connect a Windows XP PC to my E-Synth.

Obviously a PCI SCSI card would be a start (any idea if these USB-SCSI converters are any use?)

Then when it comes to software, what do I need and where to find it?

A simple summary of all the bits needed would be very helpful... :-)

I have heard that it can be a hit and miss affair (or a black art, as someone said!). Is it worth doing? I'm finding that transferring WAV files via floppy disk is unbelievably slow - why is that?

an adaptech scsi card, an appropriate scsi cord, a midi interface, midi cables, and youre set.

it can be done with just midi cables if you dont have a scsi pci card

Its slow but not as bad as you would think, for drum samples, loops, stabs, bass notes and all fairly short samples its fine.
If you have some large multisampled strings it'll be a a pain

Oh and i think it'll only send mono samples via midi

I'll give the demo of ZoeOS a go - I googled all sorts of E-mu/E-Synth stuff but never once had any reference to it!

It seems to be unsupported/obsolete now - is it worth shelling out for the full version if it's an 'end of the road' product?

it does quite a bit. you may not use everything it does, but then again, you may find it to be quite useful.
