OS 3.0b vs. 4.10 Classic

Postby mbuhlert » Fri May 02, 2008 8:04 pm

In response to a query about the 3.0b EOS manual Gilles was kind enough to point out that he used the 4.0 manual for his 3.0b 4X sampler and had discovered no differences. So:

1. What would be gained from going from 3.0b to 4.1 Classic on a 4X Turbo?

2. My sampler doesn't have enough flash installed to upgrade to 4.1. If I were able to find a box with more flash and installed the bigger flash chip for purposes of upgrading only, then switched the flash back, would that be a problem? In other words, is the flash used each time the machine boots, or only during the upgrade process?

Thanks for the time for the noobie questions. I just got this beast and am trying to get to grips with it. :???:

I think that's where your OS is stored so it's used every time. I have the same problem with my E4K: only 1Mb of Flash RAM so I'm stuck with EOS 3.0b. But then it's such an improvement over the EOS that came with my machine that I won't complain!
