Basic (I think!) E-Synth ROM questions

Postby mingle » Tue May 20, 2008 6:12 am

Hi,

My E-Synth has one ROM SIMM in ROM slot 1. The ROM is labelled:

WO# E41430
AP530-00
EXCELSIOR

I've tried removing the ROM and when I reboot, all of the internal presets are there, but they make no sound - so I assume the samples are on the ROM which I removed(?).

When I access the "DISK" function on my E-Synth, the ROM appears to show up as "ROM DISK". It's a 16MB ROM which has a single bank titled "EROM 1.2". The presets in this bank are different from the internal presets in the E-Synth.

Is this the ROM that holds the internal E-Synth samples?

Is so where do the internal presets come from originally - are they somewhere on this ROM?

Is it possible to save the internal presets I000 to I0250 (including all associated samples) to disk so I can use the sounds on another machine (E4XT)?

Sorry for the bozo-questions, it's just had me stumped for a while!

Cheers,

Mike.

E-ROM should indeed be the e-synth rom.
There should be presets in the bank and there were presets on a floppy that came with the e-synth.
It could be that your presets reference a different rom slot and get samples from the wrong place.
I have got the e-synth presets in my e-synth, but no rom.
Would be great if you could copy the rom bank to disk and upload it someplace, I could do the same with my presets.
