Gallery EOS software - does anyone know about it?

Postby drdel » Tue Nov 18, 2008 1:29 am

Hello - recently I heard there used to be certain software available from Emu, for handling patch archiving and remote programming, possibly remote control etc. of EOS4 synths (e.g. E6400 Ultra). Is this true? And, are these softwares useful (for PC) and if yes, how could I get them? The product names I noted from an Emu brochure are as follows:

Gallery EOS browser,
Gallery EOS file assistant software, and
Bias PEAK software.

Plus, Emagic Sound Diver software was also mentioned; however, the one on my SD 3.0.5 is apparently not really good - would the one from the brochure be any different (i.e., better)? Thanks in advance! Cheers, drdel.[/i]

I never managed to find it, but given its antiquity I doubt it would be that useful now.

Its mentioned here so it did exist breifly:

http://www.synthony.com/vintage/emuUltras.html

and in the EMU XT brochure:

http://www.fullcompass.com/common/files ... ochure.pdf

However never found any sight, smell, or a mere hint of it...........

UK Site here of what remains of the firm which seems protools oriented now:

All 3 softwares you mention is MAC only, I have the original Gallery File Assistent, since I don't have a Mac I never could try it, but my friend I bought my Ultra from used it every day, he liked it very much. It's now discontinued for a long time, will work on Mac OS9 only, and does not support some parameters introduced in later EOS. Bias PEAK is a MAC soft audio edit program like Soundforge or Wavelab on PC, so not really comparable with the Gallery soft.

Hi guys, thanks indeed! This is very helpful. So I will not be able to run that software anyway, since I chose to do everything via PC ... would you know if there is an intelligent way to remote program the E6400 Ultra via SoundDiver (I use v3.0.5) ? Thanks! Cheers, drdel.

The new Chicken Systems "Constructor" looks promising. However you will still need a method to get the files in and out of the Ultra e.g. with a removable drive, a memory card SCSI connection or ZIP drive.

I haven't tried it yet but it seems like it allows complete offline editing and creation of sounds. I'm not sure how exenstive it can be however e.g. allowing any setup of FX vs just editing a basic sound file/envelope.

However, it does look useful if it does what it says on the box.

I am using SoundDiver 3.0.5 and think its great. It does'nt support the new features in EOS after version 3, like more Lfo waveforms etc, but otherwise its much better for editing than using the frontpanel.
It is not good for organizing and batch transferring the Banks to and from the computer (Have'nt mange to do this).

I am on a mac with OS 9.2.2. Other than that I use BIAS Peak via Scsi to transfer and edit individual samples - works like a charm
All the best,
Razo
