so which way do i switch them

also if i fat 32 it can the hd still be read by my mac?
not a biggie but still

also im not to clued up on this jumper lark

I don't understand the question about switches IDE to USB.

http://www.addonics.com/products/jupiter/jchd.asp

Model that is IDE to IDE (AJCHDIU)

I would not suggest getting the encrypted versions - unless you want to really have a lot of "fun". i.e. not working.

Do you mean it has this per the diagram:

* IDE to IDE internal for your sampler (motherboard IDE to drive bay IDE)
* IDE to USB when its removed via a cable adapter
* a special connector from the caddy to the internal" bay' slot

If so, that's what you want as far as I can tell.

FAT32 is compatible with Mac OS X no prob.

Note: I have a different drive caddy in mine, I just mentioned Addonics as possible alternative source per the thread. You do have to know what you are doing modding the Emus in this way ;-) No warranty implied by my posts!!

hey its the power supply im most worried about
taking the power from my internal drive
and putting in on the advance rack

i hear the power supply has been flipped
as there are 4 wires
which ones do i flip back

i know the grounds are in the middle two
is it just the outer two that i flip around?

the other thing i was trying to say but omg im just random with my typing!
is
that the wire goes from ide (from the sampler)
to usib
then from usib to ide (the external Hd)
im sure its not a problem

discard the jumper thingy
coz thats just me being a noob
:-S

yeah the main problem is the power supply

btw im not bothered if it goes wrong
if anyone has sujjestions that would be ace

cheers

Nav

Measure the voltages with a meter. If you don't know what you are doing, don't do it :) Don't guess.

If you already had a hard drive installed or a floppy drive, then those power connections are likely to be ok.

However, if you are making your *own* motherboard power to floppy or hard drive power cable then you *may* need to swap the wires for 5v and 12v but always test with a voltmeter. They are incredibly cheap. Plenty of resources on google for how to measure voltage.

Don't short anything out (don't measure current/amps)....again....learn before walking :)

im such a jackass i know what the problem is
i think :-S

the addeonics drive would take a 5V

but the origional power is going to be 12v im sure coz the markings on the mother board says so

so silly nav

i must have fried the poor bugger!

do you think maplins would realise if i just send it back lol (i havent broken the seal, so i havent voided the warrantee lol, its worth a go)

urm i think my problem is going to be this for my next drive
how do i get the 12v power to go down to 5v
