Importing other formats of samples into emu?

Postby scsi bob » Fri Oct 31, 2003 10:08 pm

Does anyone know what other formats can be handled, via what device, and how?

I don't seem to be able to use Akai CD's with the emu at all.
I've gone.

If you have a SCSI CD-Rom you should totally be able to see akai cds in your emu. I had this problem too, turned out that my CD-R wsa very finniky (lousy yamaha) and it wasnt reading burned CD's. I fixed it by spending $2 on on off ebay =)
As for a list of what it can read im not really sure sorry

Depends what EOS you're running.

EOS 2.8: just Akai S-1000 and Roland S-700.

EOS 3.2: adds Akai S-3000 and ESi

EOS 4.01: adds importing WAV & AIFF

EOS 4.6: adds Ensoniq EPS/ASR

EOS 4 does a much better job of translating Akai sample banks.

For other sample models, you need extra help from Chickensys or CDxtract. Sometimes, it means creating S-1000 banks and importing the result with EOS (e.g. importing Kurzweil).
