i need some good advices from you guys!

The problem: I have my ultra6400 (with logic 5.5 on PC) in a studio I can only go twice a month. But I?d like to work at home on my laptop between these periods and make some kind of preproduction, - building tracks, making samples sessions, etc- and be able to use what I?ve done at home in the studio.
What kind of softwares (also vst softswhich are integrable into logic) would you recommend? Which ones would do the trick in order to exchanges the samples and are the most comfortable to work with?
