E4X Rotary Encoder

Postby a2d » Sun Jul 05, 2009 9:10 pm

I have just picked up an E4X Turbo and its rotary encoder needs replacing. Does anyone on here know where I can buy a replacement unit in the UK?

Also can I upgrade the OS from 3.00b to 4 or above via floppy?

Where can I pick up 128mb RAM...?

Read: http://www.jsigle.com/musicol/emufix.htm

Check first. May not need replacing.

These guys are probably the last people on the planet to have the emu parts unless you track the generic part down e.g. Farnell, allelectronics etc:

Good luck!

Get RAM from ebay. Should be $10 or less.

Search on this forum for upgrade info. its a common question and its been answered a ton already.

Cheers for the suggestions. I'll try and get me a new rotary encoder and i might try and update the OS at some point as well.

My encoder and spare front panel PCB board turned up...

Unfortunately it won't fit my E4X TURBO, the encoder board on my sampler is wider and with a larger encoder than the replacement I received. So I'm back to square one and still looking for a source for a new encoder to replace this broken unit.

Any more suggestions as to where I can find one?

Farnell (UK) might have an equivalent generic part.

Allelectronics.com (USA) is good source of strange parts.

mouser.com is top notch, but you need to know what you are doing as they have billions of parts... :-)

http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/browse ... le%3Den_UK

e.g.

ENCODER, ROTARY, 11MM

Behind Panel Depth:6.6mm; Current, Supply Max:10mA; Pulses Per Revolution Resolution:15; Rotational Life (Cycles):15000; Series:EC11; Shaft Diameter:6mm; Thread Size:M7 x 0.75; Type:Incremental Enc;

I don't know the exact specs of the encoder - but you might be able to find it at Farnell or mouser by drilling down to encoders sections in the catalogs...
