Play the whole Sample WITHOUT holding down the key??

Postby abrahamcity » Mon Mar 21, 2011 9:31 am

Hi,

does anyone know, wich parameter exactly makes my emu esi 4000 play the whole sample, e.g. 6 seconds long, although i only press the midi keyboard key short ( e.g. for 1 second)?

now, sample playback stops, as soon as i release the key......

THANKS A LOT -!!

tomas

(rascal already gave me a hint but i didnt get it yet......)

select zone(key on the keyboard) where the sample is:
go to dynamic processing/select zone/keyboard mode-turn to "trigger"/VCA-go to hold and select the amount of time you want the sample to play for.
hit the key while selecting the length so you can do it by ear.
all in the manual anyway which can be downloaded from emu.com if you dont have it.

Do what you want, but why not asking in the other thread ?

So you have a sample say 6 seconds long, just enter Dynamic Processing 2. VCA and set the Release to the highest level,
163,69 sec., that'll make it (you may set the Hold level to max 21 sec. to have some extra time added before any release action starts). To prevent bad overlaying/flams and such you can enter Dynamic Processing 9. Channel Assignment and set your sample from default POLY ALL to MONO A-I (if it's a mono sample) or POLY 2 A-D (if it's a stereo sample), which means that voice will cut itself off and (re-)trigger sample on dedicated channel(s)/voice.

• Poly 2 A-D: Four groups of 2 channels each. Notes are played
polyphonically with dynamic channel assignment, but using no
more than 2 channels.

• Mono A-I: Nine monophonic channels. Any voices assigned to the
same letter interrupt each other, but does not affect other voices.

If you have a looped sample and want to do this short key-triggering, make sure you have Loop In Release enabled in the Digital Processing (1. Setup) menu. However sadly you can't make a looped sample play forever this way, you will notice that fading starts very soon, actually after a few seconds, you'll note if you try a really long sample one time.
The thing with Keyboard Mode I mentioned in other thread.
