Decoder for listing EMU/EOS preset/sample names

Postby plz » Fri Nov 04, 2011 1:29 pm

I'm trying to catalogue my samples for ease of searching but couldn't find any free PC-based tools for extracting preset & sample names from EMU/EOS FAT files. Anyone know of any? If not, I've started a simple utility which just handles E4 files for now (it's under Freebies on the philizound web site), but there's no point re-inventing the wheel. If there isn't one I'll try and develop it further for E3 and ESI files.

Ok well, no replies so assume there's nothing out there. Have managed to decode E3B, E3X & ESI banks for factory CDs with manual intervention. The full list for the 20 CD set is available at http://www.philizound.co.uk/freebies/emu-cd-list/emu-cd-list.html for anyone interested. Have added a few other EMU-related notes re. IDE discs & SCSI cabling under the Freebies section.
Cheers,
Phil.

Some great info on your website, Phil: I'll be having a go at listing my presets from CD over the weekend.
Quick question: can I use DecodeEMU to list contents directly from an EMU CD-ROM?

Many thanks
Frank

p.s. If anyone wants a scanned copy of the official E-5000 20 CD-ROM list, PM me. Note that it only shows BANK names, not PRESETS, obviously. :-)

Cheers Frank. The program only analyses FAT format files so it won't read an EMU-formatted CD directly, sorry. All my CDs had been loaded onto a FAT-formatted hard disc in the EMU, so once it was connected to a PC the program could read & analyse it.
